"Ms. Ellison," Larkin’s voice echoed again, sounding slightly more strained. "Your continued obstruction will be noted in our official report. Think about how this looks for you and your daughter."

Nia knew exactly how it looked. It looked like a desperate, corrupt sheriff overplaying his hand. They hadn't counted on her being prepared. They hadn't counted on the neighbors recording everything.

But most importantly, they had no idea who she was about to call.

Nia sat in her father’s leather chair. She didn't use her smartphone for this. She reached under the desk and pulled out a heavy, black, hardwired satellite phone. It was a relic from her father's intelligence days, a secure line that bypassed local networks and connected directly to encrypted military channels. Thomas had maintained the subscription, and Nia, holding her own high-level security clearance from her years as a defense contractor, had kept it active.

She lifted the receiver. There was no dial tone, only a soft hiss of static. She punched in a twelve-digit alphanumeric sequence.

The line clicked. It rang once.

"Department of Defense, secure routing. State your authorization code," a crisp, mechanical-sounding voice answered.

"Authorization: Echo-Sierra-Niner-Two-Actual. Identity: Ellison, Nia T. Clearance level: Top Secret/SCI," Nia spoke clearly into the receiver.

There was a pause of perhaps five seconds. The sound of rapid typing echoed on the other end.

"Identity verified, Ms. Ellison. How can we assist you today?" the voice shifted, becoming distinctly human, authoritative, and sharp.

"I have a Code Code-Red situation at my primary residence," Nia stated. "Local county law enforcement, under the command of Sheriff Wade Larkin and Captain Roy Kessler, have initiated an armed siege of my property. They are claiming federal jurisdiction and the authority to search for federal property without presenting a warrant or providing any federal identification."

"Stand by, Ms. Ellison. Confirming your location... Oak Creek, correct?"

"Affirmative."

"Are there any federal agencies currently operating in your sector under DOD or DOJ mandates?"

"Negative," Nia replied. "I have visual confirmation. Personnel are strictly local county deputies. They have deployed a battering ram, severed utility lines, and are detaining my civilian daughter on the perimeter. The commanding officers are explicitly claiming a federal mandate."

"Ms. Ellison, impersonating a federal investigation to conduct an armed siege is a severe violation of the Posse Comitatus Act and federal law. Do they have entry?"

"Negative. The perimeter is secure, but they are threatening imminent forced breach."

"Understood. The Pentagon does not take kindly to local militias or rogue law enforcement weaponizing federal authority. Stay away from the windows, Ms. Ellison. Help is on the way."

The line clicked dead. Nia placed the heavy receiver back on its cradle. She took a deep breath, the adrenaline coursing through her veins, sharpening her senses. She had just dropped a bomb on Sheriff Larkin’s carefully orchestrated raid.

Chapter 7: The Final Stand

Outside, Kessler’s patience had completely evaporated. The siege had been going on for nearly thirty minutes. The crowd of neighbors had doubled in size, their cameras unblinking. Judge Price was now standing at the edge of Nia's property line, openly arguing with a young deputy, citing legal statutes and threatening immediate federal injunctions.

"Enough of this garbage!" Kessler roared, throwing his hands in the air. "Sheriff, she’s destroying the evidence in there right now! We have to go in!"

Larkin looked nervous. The optics were terrible. The public documentation was out of his control. But the fear of Thomas Ellison's hidden files going public outweighed his caution.

"Do it," Larkin muttered, turning his back to the cameras. "Breach the door. Fast and hard."

Kessler grinned. He signaled to the heavy response team. "Alpha team, stack up! Ram the door! Go, go, go!"

Four heavy-set officers in tactical gear rushed the porch. They gripped the steel battering ram, swinging it back like a pendulum.
