The courtroom was a masterclass in quiet intimidation, a sanctuary of polished mahogany and heavy, suffocating silence. Warm, golden light spilled from the overhead fixtures, catching the gleaming metallic threads of the state flag and the carved wooden crest of the United States Seal. At the absolute center of this hallowed space, elevated above the empty gallery, sat a man who commanded the room simply by breathing within it.

He was a striking figure, possessing a sharp, meticulous fade haircut and a neatly trimmed beard. His physical presence was undeniable; thick, coiled muscle pressed against the fabric of his fitted, off-white long-sleeve shirt. He sat in the high-backed leather chair, his large hands resting calmly on a leather-bound folder. He was the reigning authority in this room, reviewing his morning docket with an unshakable, predatory calm.

The heavy wooden doors at the rear of the courtroom suddenly slammed open, fracturing the morning tranquility.

Marching down the center aisle was a courtroom bailiff, his face already flushed a mottled, angry red. He wore a crisp, midnight navy uniform that seemed to swallow the warm light of the room. His hand rested aggressively on his black leather duty belt, his fingers drumming against his handcuffs. He took one look at the Black man sitting behind the bench, processed the off-white shirt instead of a traditional black robe, and made a catastrophic assumption.
