He was patrolling the restricted fourth-floor corridor, looking for anyone who dared to step out of line. His worldview was tragically narrow, heavily reliant on rigid, prejudiced profiling. In Miller's mind, authority had a specific look, a specific background, and a specific color.

As Miller turned the corner, his eyes locked onto a massive figure walking toward him. He saw a towering Black man wearing a long, flowing black robe. Miller’s brain instantly short-circuited. He didn't see the dignified posture. He didn't notice the expensive leather notebook or the calm, calculating intelligence in the man’s eyes. Governed entirely by his own ingrained biases, Miller immediately assumed this was a brazen, insolent defendant—perhaps a sovereign citizen or a prankster—who had somehow stolen a prop and sneaked into the restricted judges' wing to cause a scene.

The blood rushed to Miller’s face, turning his skin a mottled, angry red. His jaw clenched, and his pulse pounded in his ears. This was exactly the kind of confrontation he craved to assert his dominance. He squared his shoulders, puffed out his chest, and marched aggressively down the center of the hallway, directly intercepting the path of the towering man.

Marcus Holloway saw the officer approaching, noting the hostile body language, the clenched fists, and the accelerated pace. Marcus stopped, standing perfectly still like a mountain in the center of the corridor. He did not brace for an impact, nor did he display an ounce of intimidation. He simply waited, observing the approaching storm with a cold, analytical detachment.

Miller didn't bother to ask for identification. He didn't offer a professional greeting. Completely consumed by his own arrogant delusions, the officer closed the distance and lunged forward.
