Richard leaned forward.
“If you want photographs, the lobby is that way.”
Amara looked at him.
“Are you certain you want to continue?”
Richard laughed again.
“Absolutely.”
That answer would haunt him.
The Order to Remove Her
“Security.”
A guard appeared from a side corridor.
The atmosphere changed immediately.
Several guests began recording.
Richard pointed toward Amara.
“Escort her outside.”
The guard hesitated.
He had expected an angry customer.
Instead, he found a woman standing perfectly still.
“Ma'am,” he said carefully, “perhaps we can step outside and discuss this.”
Amara didn't move.
One of the sales associates stepped forward.
“Don't make this difficult.”
Another added, “People like her always think they can walk in and demand special treatment.”
A murmur passed through the showroom.
Amara's expression remained unchanged.
Then Elena stood.
“Sir.”
Richard turned sharply.
“What?”
Elena swallowed.
“She asked about the fleet account.”
“So?”
“I saw her name in the system this morning.”
Richard's face tightened.
“Stay out of this.”
“But—”
“You want to keep your job?”
Elena fell silent.
Richard turned back to Amara.
“You have been given enough time. Leave.”
Amara finally picked up her tablet.
But she didn't walk toward the door.
Instead, she tapped the screen once.
Then she waited.
The Cameras Come Out
The showroom was no longer watching Richard.
It was watching Amara.
A teenager near the sports-car display held his phone up.
A middle-aged woman began recording.
A man in a gray blazer whispered, “This is going to be a problem.”
Richard noticed the cameras.
His confidence began to crack.
“You're recording private business?”
“No,” the man replied. “We're recording you.”
Silence.
Richard's jaw tightened.
“You have no idea who you're dealing with.”
Amara looked at him.
“Neither do you.”
Richard scoffed.
“If you really had the money you claim to have, you wouldn't be standing here alone.”
Amara said nothing.
He continued.
“Where are your lawyers? Your assistants? Your entourage?”
Still nothing.
The silence irritated him more than an argument would have.
Finally, Richard pointed at the door.
“Get her out.”
The guard looked at the cameras.
Then at Amara.
Then back at Richard.
He didn't move.
