Then Mason appeared at the doorway.

His face was wrong.

Vincent noticed immediately.

“What?”

Mason’s eyes moved briefly to Grace, then back to Vincent.

“We have a problem.”

Vincent stepped into the hall.

Mason lowered his voice.

“Someone leaked the twins’ condition.”

Vincent went still.

“To who?”

“Everyone.”

Vincent’s gaze became ice.

Mason handed him a phone.

On the screen was a message moving through Chicago’s underworld faster than fire through gasoline.

CALLAHAN’S HEIRS HAVE 72 HOURS.

THE SOUTH SIDE KING IS ABOUT TO LOSE HIS BLOODLINE.

TIME TO CHOOSE A NEW KING.

Vincent read it once.

Then again.

Then the old Vincent returned.

The one men feared.

The one whispered about.

The one who could turn a city cold.

But behind the bedroom door, his children were laughing because a poor maid had taught them how.

And for the first time in his life, Vincent Callahan had two wars to fight.
