"We are going to make sure she gets the best care in the world, Charlee," Spencer promised, his voice low and steady. He didn't just mean it as a comforting platitude. While in the car, he had already made a call to the hospital's board of directors, ensuring that Florence was transferred from the crowded public ward to the penthouse VIP suite.
When they entered the massive, sunlit suite, the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor was the only sound. Lying in the center of the pristine white bed was Florence. She was frail, her skin pale and paper-thin, hooked up to an IV drip. But as the door clicked shut, her eyes slowly fluttered open.
"Charlee... my sweet girl," Florence gasped, a weak smile forming on her lips as she reached out a trembling hand.
Charlee broke away from Spencer and ran to the bedside, burying her face in the blankets. "Grandma! I found him! I found the baby just like you said the angels would bring us, and this nice man is helping us!"
