"Officer Miller," Marcus said, turning his gaze back to the young man. "You saw a Black man with a recycling bin and decided he was a criminal. You bypassed observation, critical thinking, and constitutional law in favor of ego and intimidation."

Marcus picked up his recycling bin and calmly walked it to the curb, placing it precisely on the edge of the grass. He turned back to the two officers.

"Sergeant Rossi, I expect a full incident report filed by noon. Officer Miller, you will be receiving a formal summons from the Office of Police Accountability on Monday morning. I suggest you spend your weekend reviewing the Fourth Amendment."

Marcus turned and walked up his driveway. He waved politely to Mrs. Gable, who was still filming from her porch, before disappearing into the cool, quiet safety of his home.

Out on the street, Officer Kyle Miller stood perfectly still in the morning sun, finally realizing that the career he had fought so hard to build was already over.
