Sandra was escorted off my property, not through the fence gap, but led out the front gate by the officers. She was issued a formal citation for trespassing and destruction of property, and informed that a warrant would follow if she ever set foot on my land again. I subsequently filed a civil suit for the cost of the fence repairs and the water replacement.
The pool sat empty for the rest of the autumn, a concrete monument to the limits of my patience. By the following spring, it was refilled, re-balanced, and sparkling under the sun.
Sandra Fielding moved away the following winter. I do not know where she went. But I still have the file, just in case.
