The sheikh noticed this immediately. His pride, already wounded by the horse, flared at her calm demeanor. He marched over, his face twisted in a dark frown.

“How dare you look at something that belongs to me like that?” Tariq snapped, his voice dripping with authority.

The young woman did not flinch. She slowly, calmly turned her gaze away from the obsidian beast and looked directly into the sheikh’s furious eyes.

“The horse may belong to you, but it does not obey you.”

Several guards and stable hands standing nearby physically froze, the air leaving their lungs. No one—absolutely no one—had ever spoken to Sheikh Tariq with such blatant disregard for his authority. His face immediately darkened, a dangerous storm brewing in his eyes.

“You have quite a sharp tongue,” he hissed.

“I only told the truth,” Leila replied, her voice as steady as the desert horizon.

Tariq took a menacing step closer, towering over her. “Fine. And can that sharp tongue tame a horse, or are you only brave with words?”

The girl said nothing, her expression unreadable.

“What is it? Are you scared?” Tariq taunted, a cruel smirk touching his lips.

Leila remained completely silent, simply observing him the way she had observed the wild animal.

“If you can tame him,” the sheikh declared, crossing his arms, “I’ll give you ten thousand dollars. Cash. Today.”

“Money doesn’t interest me.”

Tariq’s smirk faltered. He was a man who believed everything and everyone had a price. “Then what do you want?”

The young woman looked directly into his eyes, not a trace of hesitation in her soul.

“To become your wife.”

For several agonizing seconds, complete, suffocating silence fell over the courtyard. The only sound was the distant, restless stamping of the black stallion. Then, breaking the tension, the sheikh threw his head back and burst into booming, echoing laughter. Seeing their master’s amusement, the nervous guards and stable workers immediately joined in, chuckling at the sheer absurdity of the peasant girl’s demand.

“So you’re that confident?” Tariq asked, wiping a tear of mirth from his eye.

“Yes.”

“And I’m absolutely certain that you’ll be the next one ending up in the intensive care unit. But fine,” Tariq said, his voice dropping an octave, turning cold and absolute. “If you enjoy dreaming so much, I agree. You tame the beast, you get the ring. You fail, and I will banish you from this city forever.”

Leila simply nodded.

At that moment, the arrogant sheikh could not even begin to fathom the humiliation and revelation that awaited him the very next day.

The night was long and restless for the palace. Word of the impossible wager had spread like wildfire. By the time the golden sun crested the dunes the following morning, a massive crowd had gathered safely behind the reinforced viewing gallery of the main paddock. Tariq sat in an elevated leather chair, sipping spiced coffee, an arrogant smirk plastered across his face. A team of royal medics was stationed inconspicuously by the gates, heavily equipped and ready for the inevitable disaster.

The heavy iron gates of the paddock screeched open. The ten-million-dollar stallion, completely untethered, burst into the sandy arena. It reared up on its hind legs, a terrifying silhouette of muscle and fury, thrashing its front hooves at the sky and letting out a piercing, aggressive neigh. The crowd collectively gasped and stepped back.

Then, the small wooden side gate clicked open.

Leila stepped onto the sand. She wore no protective gear. She carried no whip, no rope, no bridle, and no treats. She was entirely empty-handed.

Tariq leaned forward, his smirk vanishing, replaced by a sudden, cold knot of genuine dread. He wanted to humble the girl, not watch her die. He raised his hand, half-ready to order his guards to intervene.
