Naomi understood that too.
“What did she just say?”
Henry replied:
“She told us to be careful.”
Victor looked at Naomi.
His face had lost all color.
“You—”
Naomi calmly continued.
“The financing structure appears to have changed recently. If you have not yet reviewed the latest debt projections and environmental assessment, I would recommend that you do so before signing anything.”
Henry stared at her.
“Where did you learn Mandarin?”
“Beijing. I spent two years there during graduate school.”
Victor pushed his chair backward.
“You're a waitress.”
Naomi looked at him.
“Tonight, yes.”
That answer unsettled him.
He had expected embarrassment.
Instead, he had created a problem.
