lackeys lounged nearby on lawn chairs, chuckling.

"They're hanging over onto our side, Dave," Trent lied, though they were clearly a foot

inside my property line. "I'm just doing some landscaping. You want to stop me?"

"I don't care about the bushes," I replied, locking eyes with him. "I care about you

harassing my daughter. Take your workout elsewhere."

Trent's face flushed crimson. He marched right up to the invisible boundary. "Are you

disrespecting me in front of my boys? Do you know who I am? I'm a black belt under Master

Danvers. I could fold you in half, old man."

To emphasize his threat, Trent reached across the property line and grabbed the collar of

my flannel shirt in his massive fist. Muscle memory, honed through thousands of hours of

close-quarters combat training, took over instantly. Before my conscious mind could

intervene, my body moved with ruthless efficiency.

I didn't strike him with a punch or kick. Instead, I pivoted my hips, trapped his wrist

against my chest with my left hand, and applied sharp, agonizing pressure to the median

nerve cluster in his forearm with my right thumb while simultaneously rolling his elbow

upward.

It was a standard law enforcement and military compliance hold executed in less than half

a second. The physics of the leverage forced Trent down to his knees instantly. He let out a

sharp, breathless yelp as his face hit the grass, completely immobilized. I released him

immediately, stepping back and raising my hands in a show of feigned clumsiness.

"Whoa, careful, Trent. Don't trip over the tree roots," I said loudly so his friends could hear.

Trent scrambled up, cradling his wrist, his face purple with humiliation. Because of the

speed of the maneuver, it looked like he had simply stumbled. An hour later, his father

pounded violently on my front door, screaming threats. I remained calm, pointing out that my

security cameras recorded everything. Harry stormed off, promising utter destruction.

The climax arrived on Labor Day weekend during the annual Oak Creek cul-de-sac
