Officer Carter turned.

"We'll check the property rules."

She shook her head.

"You don't understand."

"I'm trying to."

"They brought twenty people."

"How many guests are there?"

Miguel counted.

"Fourteen family members."

"Children?"

"Five."

"Adults?"

"Nine."

Officer Carter nodded.

"Okay."

The woman stepped closer.

"That's against the rules."

"Maybe."

"So remove them."

"That's not how this works."

Her expression changed.

"What do you mean?"

"I need to determine whether a violation occurred."

She pointed toward the pool.

"They don't belong here."

One of the other officers glanced toward the Ramirez family.

Nobody looked aggressive.

Nobody appeared intoxicated.

Nobody was trying to leave.

Officer Carter asked:

"Did you personally see anyone assault you?"

"Yes."

"Who?"

"Several women."

"Which ones?"

The woman pointed.

"They know."

The officer walked over to the women.

"Did anyone assault her?"

One woman shook her head.

"No."

Another said:

"She started yelling at us."

A third woman said:

"She called us names."

Officer Carter looked at her.

"What kind of names?"

The woman hesitated.

"She told us to go somewhere else."

"Where?"

"She said we should go back to where we came from."

Officer Carter wrote something down.

Meanwhile, another officer spoke with an older man sitting alone near the pool.

His name was Thomas Greene.

He had been watching the entire incident.

"I don't know either group," Thomas said.

"That's useful."

"I saw what happened."

"Tell me."

Thomas pointed toward the woman.

"She approached the family first."

"What happened after that?"

"She started questioning them."

"About what?"

"Whether they lived here."

"And then?"

"She became angry."

"Did you hear anything specific?"

Thomas nodded.

"She said they didn't belong."

The officer looked at him.

"Are you certain?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because it was loud enough that everyone heard it."

The woman noticed Thomas speaking with the police.

She immediately walked toward them.

"Why are you talking to him?"

Officer Carter raised one hand.

"Please stay back."

"He's lying."

"You don't know that."

"I know exactly what happened."

"That's why we're interviewing witnesses."

She shook her head.

"You need to understand that these people are causing problems."

Officer Carter remained calm.

"Right now, you're the person who called us."

"Yes."

"So we're going to listen to you."

"Good."

"But we're also going to listen to everyone else."

She frowned.

Then came the most important piece of evidence.

A property manager named Sarah Kim arrived at the pool.

She had received a call from one of the residents.

"I understand there's a dispute over the clubhouse reservation," Sarah said.

Officer Carter nodded.

"Do you know this family?"

"Yes."

"Did they reserve the clubhouse?"

"Yes."

"Are their guests permitted to use the pool?"

Sarah paused.

"Normally, yes, if they follow the posted guest limits."

The woman immediately interrupted.

"Exactly!"

Sarah looked at her.

"However..."

The woman stopped smiling.

Sarah continued.

"The reservation was for a private family event, and management approved the guest list yesterday."

Miguel exhaled.

Elena closed her eyes briefly.

The woman stared at Sarah.

"You approved this?"

"Yes."

"All of them?"

"Yes."

"That's ridiculous."

Sarah remained professional.

"You contacted the office yesterday."

"I did not."

"You spoke with our assistant manager."

"No."

Sarah pulled out her phone.

"We have the call record."

Silence.

Officer Carter looked toward the woman.

"We're going to review the security footage before making any decisions."

The woman crossed her arms.

"Fine."

She sounded confident.

She still believed the cameras would prove her story.

She was wrong.

The security office was located in a small room behind the clubhouse.

Four monitors displayed different areas of the property.

The pool.

The entrance.

The parking lot.

The clubhouse patio.

Officer Carter requested the footage.

Sarah pulled up the recording.

Everyone watched.

The first video showed Elena arriving.

She walked toward the gate carrying food.

The woman approached her.

The recording had no audio, but the body language was clear.

The woman blocked Elena's path.

Elena stepped backward.

The woman followed.

Then Daniel appeared.

The woman pointed toward him.

Daniel pointed toward the building.

The argument continued.

Officer Carter watched carefully.

"Go back."

Sarah rewound the footage.

Again.

And again.

Then the officer said:

"Now show me the pool camera."

The angle changed.

Several minutes later, the woman walked toward the Ramirez family.

Two other adults followed.

The video showed her pointing repeatedly.

Then one of the women from the family approached.

The woman in the blue swimsuit stepped forward.

The two women argued.

The woman in blue raised her hand.

She pushed the other woman.

The other woman stumbled backward.

A crowd gathered.

Officer Carter paused the footage.

Nobody spoke.

He continued.

The woman in blue appeared to swing again.

This time, the other woman moved away.

A man stepped between them.

Then the woman in blue pointed toward the family.

She appeared to be shouting.

The recording continued.

The police watched for several minutes.

The story they had been given was beginning to fall apart.
