Marcus simply sighed, crossing his arms and leaning back against the Ferrari. "You're making a terrible mistake," he warned her gently.
Within minutes, the wail of sirens pierced the morning air. Two police cruisers screeched into the garage, lights flashing off the concrete walls. Four officers stepped out, hands resting cautiously on their duty belts.
Eleanor waved them over frantically. "Officers! Right here! I caught him trying to break into this vehicle!"
The lead officer, a stern-looking veteran, approached Marcus. "Sir, keep your hands where I can see them. Step away from the vehicle."
Marcus complied calmly, raising his hands slightly to show he was unarmed. "Officer, there's a misunderstanding. I am the owner of this car, and I am here for a business meeting in this building."
Eleanor scoffed loudly. "He's lying! Look at him! Does he look like he belongs in Sterling Tower?"
"Sir, do you have identification and proof of ownership?" the officer asked, ignoring Eleanor's outburst.
"Yes, officer. My wallet is in my front left pocket. May I reach for it?" Marcus asked politely.
"Go ahead, slowly."
Marcus pulled out a sleek, minimalist wallet, producing a black titanium ID card and his driver's license. "The registration and insurance are in the glove compartment. The keys are in my right pocket. May I unlock it?"
With the officer's nod, Marcus pressed the key fob. The Ferrari chirped, its lights flashing, and the doors unlocked. He retrieved the leather-bound registration folder and handed it to the police.
