Anna had wanted normal.
So she married a respected architect who broke her ribs behind locked doors.
She pressed call.
Dominic answered immediately.
For a moment, she could not speak.
Then she whispered, “Can you come get me?”
Silence filled the line.
“Where are you?” he asked.
“Oakridge Country Club. West patio.”
“Are you alone?”
“For now.”
“Stay away from the glass.”
“He gave me ten minutes.”
Dominic inhaled once.
“You are not going back inside unless you choose to. You are not getting into his car.”
“I’m cold.”
“I know. Look toward the driveway. I will be the headlights.”
Seven minutes later, the patio door opened.
“Anna.”
Grant’s shoes moved across the stone.
