*"You believed that money gave you the right to humiliate another human being for your own amusement."*

She shifted seamlessly into standard High Arabic:

*"You believed that dignity could be bought and sold for a stack of paper."*

She shifted into Russian, her pronunciation crisp and authoritative:

*"And you believed that no one in this room would ever hold you accountable for your cruelty."*

She shifted into Spanish, her tone rich and rhythmic:

*"Nine languages, Mr. Vance. English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghainese, French, Italian, Japanese, Arabic, and Russian."*

She stopped, letting the silence settle over the room like a heavy curtain.

Every single person in the elevated dining rotunda—over one hundred guests, diplomats, executives, and staff members—stood up from their seats.

A single pair of hands began to clap. It was Mr. Zhang.

Within seconds, the entire restaurant erupted into a thunderous, deafening ovation. The applause echoed off the high marble ceilings and the crystal chandeliers, filling the room with an undeniable energy of triumph and justice.

Richard Vance sat frozen in his leather chair, isolated in the center of the cheering crowd. His face was pale, his eyes wide with utter shock and embarrassment.

The $100,000 stack of cash and his leather wallet lay untouched on the white tablecloth in front of him.

Maya stood quietly before him, her posture erect, her face serene, untouched by pride or malice. She simply waited for the applause to subside.

When the room finally quieted down, Mr. Zhang stepped forward, placing his hand gently on the back of his chair. He looked down at Vance with cold, absolute disappointment.

"Mr. Vance," Mr. Zhang said in clear, deliberate English. "Our business partnership is terminated. Effective immediately."

Vance gasped, looking up in panic. "Zhang! Wait—what? We're talking about a fifty-million-dollar deal! You can't cancel over a joke!"

"It was not a joke," Mr. Zhang replied sternly. "It was a demonstration of character. And I do not do business with men who lack character, intelligence, or respect."
