Derek panicked. He tried to bench-press her off him, a common mistake for strong men. He shoved violently against her chest with both hands.

Angela didn't fight the push. She accepted it. As his arms extended, straightening out and exposing his joints, she spun gracefully. She threw her right leg over his head, dropped her hips tightly against his shoulder, clamped her knees together, and fell backward, taking his extended right arm with her.

An armbar. Flawless. Textbook. Unescapable.

She held his wrist in both of her hands, securing his thumb so it pointed toward the ceiling. She didn't extend her hips to hyperextend the elbow. She just held it perfectly tight, hovering a millimeter away from breaking his arm.

Derek struggled for two seconds, realizing his immense strength was useless when his elbow joint was isolated against her entire lower body leverage. He felt the terrifying, agonizing tension in his elbow capsule.

"Tap," he gasped out, his face purple. He slapped his thigh frantically.

Angela released him immediately. She stood up, brushed a bead of sweat from her forehead, and walked back to her starting line.

Derek rolled onto his side, cradling his right arm, panting heavily. He looked up at the woman in the gray shirt, his eyes wide with a mixture of awe and fear. He slowly climbed to his feet, bowed deeply—a bow of true, humble respect—and retreated to the edge of the mat, standing silently next to a traumatized Ryan.

The dojo was so quiet you could hear the hum of the vending machine in the lobby.

Ethan was gripping the wall frame, his eyes wide, a massive, incredulous smile slowly breaking across his teenage face. His mom, the accountant who baked cookies on Sundays and complained about lower back pain, was dismantling the most terrifying men he knew.

Part V: Round Three - The Ruthless End

"Round three," Michael said. His voice was no longer tense; it was filled with profound, reverent curiosity. He was watching a masterclass. "Jason. You're up."

Jason Mercer stepped onto the mat. Unlike Ryan and Derek, Jason was not humbled by what he had seen. He was furious. His ego could not process the reality of a middle-aged woman humiliating his peers. He saw it as a trick, a fluke, a product of Ryan and Derek underestimating her.

He was not going to underestimate her. He was going to hurt her.

Jason was a competitor who skirted the rules. He was known in the gym for going too hard, holding submissions too long, and grinding his forearms into his training partners' faces to cause pain and force mistakes.

"You got lucky with them, lady," Jason spat, his eyes narrowed, pacing back and forth like a caged animal. "But you're not playing with the big boys now. I don't care if Mike said no hard takedowns. We're going to fight."

Angela's expression finally changed. The calm serenity vanished, replaced by a gaze so intensely cold and predatory that Jason involuntarily stopped pacing.

"I hope you do fight," Angela said, her voice dropping an octave, losing all warmth. "Because you are the one who told Ethan he was worthless when he couldn't escape your cross-face. You are the one who grinds your chin into the eyes of white belts."

Jason looked genuinely startled that she knew this. He glanced quickly at Ethan, then back at Angela. "So what? It makes them tough. Welcome to the real world."

"The real world," Angela repeated softly. "Let us explore the real world, Jason."

"Begin!" Michael shouted, sensing the dangerous shift in energy.

Jason didn't try to grapple. He feinted a takedown and instead threw a vicious, illegal open-handed slap disguised as a collar tie, aiming directly for Angela's nose to stun her. It was a dirty street tactic, designed to blind and disorient.

Angela saw it coming a mile away.

She didn't block it. Instead, she slipped to the outside, moving her head just enough for Jason's hand to whiz past her ear. As his arm overextended, Angela stepped in, trapping his wrist with her left hand and snaking her right arm under his armpit, wrapping her hand over his shoulder and behind his neck.

She locked in a standing arm-triangle choke, a variation of a head-and-arm throw, but applied with brutal, instant compression.

Jason realized he was trapped. He tried to pull his arm back, but Angela had anchored her weight perfectly.

Instead of throwing him gently, as she had done with the others, Angela dropped her weight straight down. She dragged Jason violently to the mat, planting his face into the foam, while keeping his arm and neck completely entangled in her grip.

She didn't give him an inch to breathe. She transitioned instantly into a mounted crucifix position. Jason was flat on his stomach. Angela was perched on his back, her legs grape-vining his left arm, trapping it entirely. Her left arm had his right arm pinned at an awkward angle. His face was mashed into the mat.

He was entirely immobilized, spread-eagled and helpless.

Jason thrashed wildly, bucking his hips, trying to roll. He cursed, spitting into the mat. "Get off me, you crazy witch!"

Angela remained perfectly still, riding out his frantic explosion of energy with effortless balance. She let him tire himself out, thrashing like a fish on a deck for a solid thirty seconds. When his breathing became ragged and his movements slowed, she leaned down, putting her mouth right next to his ear.

"Are you tough now, Jason?" she whispered.

Jason grunted, trying to violently wrench his neck free. "Let me go!"

"You like to grind your forearm into people's faces," Angela said calmly. "You like to make people suffer when they can't fight back."

She shifted her weight, bringing her right knee up and pressing it firmly against the back of his neck, pushing his face harder into the mat. It wasn't enough to injure his spine, but it was incredibly uncomfortable, creating a terrible, claustrophobic pressure.
