"I've spoken with the team."
"Did you?"
"Yes."
"Did you speak with Cassidy?"
Coach Harmon hesitated.
"Yes."
"What did she say?"
"That Maya misunderstood some comments."
Marcus nodded.
"Of course."
Coach Harmon became defensive.
"Mr. Reynolds, I'm not going to let you accuse my athletes without evidence."
Marcus smiled slightly.
"I wouldn't do that."
He opened a folder.
"I brought evidence."
He placed photographs on the desk.
The locker notes.
The damaged phone.
Photographs of bruises.
Screenshots.
Dates.
Times.
Witness names.
Coach Harmon stared.
Marcus placed one final item on the table.
A printed transcript.
"Audio recording from Friday's practice."
The room became silent.
Coach Harmon looked at Maya.
"You recorded students?"
"I documented what happened."
Marcus leaned back.
"Now we can have a conversation based on facts."
The story should have ended there.
It didn't.
Because the principal made one mistake.
She called Cassidy into the office.
Cassidy arrived with her father.
Richard Lane.
Westbrook's athletic director.
He walked into the room with the confidence of a man who had spent years believing the rules applied differently to him.
He looked at Marcus.
Then at Maya.
Then at the photographs.
"This is ridiculous."
Marcus said nothing.
Richard turned to the principal.
"You're letting a new student accuse half the athletic program?"
Dr. Parker frowned.
"There is documented evidence."
"Kids fight."
"This goes beyond fighting."
Richard looked at Marcus.
"You know how many parents complain every season?"
Marcus answered calmly.
"Not one of them is my concern."
Richard stepped closer.
"You think walking in here changes something?"
Marcus looked at him.
"No."
"Then what are you doing?"
"Making sure my daughter is heard."
Richard laughed.
"You don't understand how this school works."
Marcus nodded.
"You're right."
Richard smiled.
"You don't belong here."
Marcus looked around the office.
Then back at Richard.
"Neither does bullying."
Silence.
Cassidy shifted uncomfortably.
Her father looked at her.
"Tell them you didn't do it."
Cassidy opened her mouth.
Nothing came out.
Marcus noticed.
So did the principal.
"So," Marcus said quietly, "we're finally getting somewhere."
The investigation lasted two weeks.
More students came forward.
Then more.
A sophomore admitted that Cassidy had pressured her to spread rumors.
A basketball player admitted Tyler had deliberately tripped Maya.
Another girl confessed that the missing necklace had been taken as a joke.
It was found inside Cassidy's locker.
The school couldn't deny it anymore.
Suspensions followed.
The athletic director resigned.
Coach Harmon was placed on administrative leave.
But the biggest surprise came from Grace.
She entered the principal's office carrying a notebook.
"I need to tell you something."
