But Marcus wasn't finished. As Derek crumpled forward, Marcus stepped in. He wrapped his right arm around the back of Derek’s neck, locking in a flawless Muay Thai plum clinch. With brutal, calculated efficiency, Marcus drove his left knee upward, catching Derek flush on the chin.
Derek Stone’s eyes rolled back in his head before he even hit the floor.
He collapsed onto the mat in a heap, completely unconscious. The fight had lasted less than four seconds.
The gym was paralyzed. Fifty people stood frozen in absolute disbelief. The millionaire coach, the undisputed king of Apex Elite, had just been effortlessly dismantled by the man who cleaned their toilets.
Marcus didn't celebrate. He didn't gloat. He simply took a step back, looked down at the unconscious coach, and took a deep breath. His heart rate barely seemed to have elevated.
Slowly, Marcus walked back to the edge of the mat. He picked up his coveralls, slipped them over his shoulders, and zipped them up. He stepped back into his work boots. He walked over to the spilled garbage, grabbed a dustpan, and calmly swept up the debris. He tied the new trash bag tight, threw it over his shoulder, and walked toward the exit.
As he reached the double glass doors, a young student in the back row, holding a smartphone that had been recording the entire altercation, called out, trembling.
"Who... who are you?"
Marcus paused, his hand on the door handle. He looked back at the crowd, then down at the mop bucket he was leaving behind forever.
"I'm just a father," Marcus said quietly.
He pushed the door open and walked out into the warm Arizona night.
The video hit the internet within the hour. By the time the sun rose the next morning, it had amassed millions of views. It was a modern-day David and Goliath story captured in high definition. The martial arts world exploded. Analysts broke down the footage frame by frame, marveling at Marcus’s flawless mechanics, his impossible speed, and the sheer perfection of the liver strike.
Derek Stone’s empire crumbled almost overnight. The humiliation of being knocked out in four seconds by his own janitor shattered the aura of invincibility he had spent years cultivating. His top fighters left for other camps, his sponsors dropped him, and Apex Elite eventually closed its doors, rebranded under new management.
