"No," I said, a dark, freezing anger crystallizing in my chest. Escorting her out would be too easy. It would just be a breakup. She would spin the story, play the victim, and walk away to ruin someone else's life. "She wanted to play a game with my family. She wanted to build a nightmare in my home. We are going to let her sleep in it."
I turned to Marcus, my eyes locking onto his. "I want full access to her phone. I want her emails, her bank records, her encrypted messages. I want to know who she is talking to, what her end game is, and exactly how long she has been planning this. By the time the sun goes down, I want Patricia’s entire life laid bare on this desk."
Marcus nodded once, a grim satisfaction in his eyes. "I’ll get the cyber team on it immediately."
I turned back to the glowing screens. The luxurious mansion I had built, with its sweeping staircases, imported marble floors, and vaulted ceilings, no longer felt like a home. It was a hunting ground. And Patricia thought she was the predator.
