"I accepted your dinner invitation, Marcus," I replied smoothly, my voice echoing clearly in the stunned silence. "Your text said the family wanted to see me one last time. I figured it would be rude not to introduce the family to its newest generation."
"You... you hid them from me!" Marcus suddenly shouted, his panic twisting into defensive anger. It was the exact same anger he had used eight years ago when he hurled his keys across our tiny apartment and accused me of trying to trap him. "You kept my children a secret for eight years!"
