I took a slow, deliberate step forward. The air in the room seemed to drop ten degrees.
"Let’s get the facts straight, Marcus," I said, my tone ice-cold. "I came to you with a positive pregnancy test. You called me a liar, packed a bag, and told me you were too young to have your life 'ruined' by a baby. You served me with divorce papers forty-eight hours later. You blocked my number, blocked my emails, and moved to another state. You didn't even stick around long enough for the first ultrasound to find out there were four of them."
"Marcus?" Chloe’s voice trembled. She was staring at the man she was about to marry, tears pooling in her eyes. "You told me your ex-wife was a crazy, barren woman who refused to work. You told me you left because she was draining your bank accounts."
