One by one, the pristine, black HOA security SUVs and heavy maintenance trucks were lifted, secured, and silently rolled away. They hauled the entire fleet—fifteen vehicles in total—directly into the Hollister Fleet & Recovery yard. Marcus parked them in tight, inescapable rows on the very same gravel where his twenty-two vehicles had sat just days before. He locked the heavy steel gates with a hardened boron padlock, activated the perimeter alarms, and waited for the sun to rise.

By 7:00 AM, the Blackridge Estates motor pool was a scene of absolute chaos. Security guards were running around in a panic, their entire fleet vanished into thin air. It didn't take long for Evelyn Vance to discover where they had gone.

Evelyn marched up to the chain-link fence of Hollister Fleet & Recovery, her face a mask of furious, unfiltered rage. She wore her signature navy suit, clutching a stack of papers, her eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses. Behind her, stranded security guards and a local police cruiser pulled up to the gravel shoulder.

Marcus walked out of his dispatch office, a rolled-up manila folder in his hand. He wore his camel-brown jacket, looking completely at ease. He walked right up to the chain-link fence, meeting Evelyn face-to-face through the steel mesh.

Evelyn thrust her finger toward the fence, her voice shrill and echoing in the morning air. "You should have sold this land when I offered. Now you lose control."

Marcus stood tall, his broad shoulders squared. He looked at the furious woman with a mixture of pity and absolute authority. He pointed a firm finger down at the gravel beneath his boots.
