"Is mine. Your HOA rules end at my fence," Marcus stated, his deep voice radiating an unshakeable, immovable calm.

Evelyn sneered, waving the fabricated HOA notices in the air, convinced her wealth and status made her untouchable. "People like you always think paperwork protects them. It doesn't."

Marcus didn't raise his voice. He didn't lose his temper. He simply stared at her, a slight, knowing smirk touching the corners of his mouth. He tapped the heavy security camera mounted on the fence post above them.

"Keep going. Every decision you make is being recorded," Marcus warned softly.

The police officers stepped out of their cruiser and approached the fence. Evelyn immediately turned to them, adopting the role of the victim. "Arrest this man! He stole our entire security fleet in the middle of the night!"

The lead officer looked at the fifteen HOA vehicles locked inside the yard, then looked at Marcus. "Mr. Hollister, care to explain?"

Marcus calmly unrolled the manila folder and slid a thick stack of certified legal documents through the gap in the fence. "Officer, those vehicles have been illegally trespassing on my registered commercial tow zone for five years. Under penal code 47-B, I have exercised my right as a licensed operator to impound them. Here are the property line surveys, the commercial lien filings, and the itemized invoices for their release."

The officer reviewed the paperwork. It was bulletproof. The officer turned to Evelyn, who was standing perfectly still, her mouth slightly agape.

"Ma'am," the officer said with a heavy sigh. "This is a civil matter, and his impound is entirely legal. If you want those vehicles back, you have to pay the release fees."
