“Dead.”

He stared at her.

“No way.”

“You grabbed me.”

“You escaped.”

“Exactly.”

Ryan laughed.

“She's good.”

Marcus shook his head.

“She’s annoying.”

Maya smiled.

“That too.”

The tension eased for half a second.

Then Tyler's expression hardened.

“Again.”

Raymond stepped forward.

“That's enough.”

Tyler looked at him.

“Coach.”

“I said enough.”

Maya lowered her hands.

She was breathing steadily.

The three men were breathing harder.

That told Raymond everything.

He looked at Maya.

“You've made your point.”

Maya nodded.

“Then we're done.”

Tyler shook his head.

“No.”

Everyone looked at him.

“You wanted three-on-one.”

Maya stared.

“Yes.”

“So finish it.”

Raymond's voice became sharp.

“Tyler.”

But Maya raised one hand.

“It's okay.”

She looked at Tyler.

“You really want another round?”

“Yes.”

“Then understand something.”

“What?”

“I don't need to beat you.”

Tyler frowned.

“Then why are you still here?”

Maya looked toward Noah.

“Because he needs to see something.”

Noah looked at her.

“What?”

Maya smiled.

“That being outnumbered doesn't mean you're helpless.”

Noah's eyes changed.

He understood.

This was no longer about Tyler.

Or Marcus.

Or Ryan.

It was about him.

Maya raised her hands again.

“Round two.”

Raymond sighed.

The bell rang.

This time, the champions did not smile.

 Three Against One

The second round began differently.

The men coordinated.

Tyler took the left.

Marcus took the right.

Ryan stayed behind them.

Maya recognized the strategy immediately.

They were trying to remove her angles.

Good.

That was what she wanted.

Because once they moved as a unit, they had to trust each other.

And trust created dependency.

Tyler stepped forward.

Maya retreated.

Marcus followed.

She moved left.

Tyler cut her off.

Maya changed direction.

Ryan closed the gap.

She stopped.

The three men nearly surrounded her.

Maya looked at each one.

Then she smiled.

Tyler frowned.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

She stepped toward him.

He raised his hands.

She attacked the space between him and Marcus.

Tyler reacted.

Marcus reacted.

Their bodies crossed.

Maya slipped through.

Ryan moved.

Maya pivoted.

She pushed his shoulder just enough to change his line.

Ryan stumbled into Tyler.

Marcus tried to compensate.

Maya moved again.

Thirty seconds.

That was all.

Thirty seconds later, all three men were breathing heavily.

Maya wasn't.

The students began whispering.

“She isn't even tired.”

“How is she doing that?”

“Who is she?”

Noah heard the questions.

He smiled.

He knew.

He had always known.

His sister was different.

She had simply never needed to announce it.

Marcus wiped sweat from his forehead.

“Where did you train?”

Maya shrugged.

“Different places.”

“Which ones?”

“Places that didn't give out easy answers.”

Ryan laughed.

“That's not an answer.”

“It wasn't meant to be.”

Tyler stepped forward.

“You've competed.”

“Yes.”

“How high?”

“High enough.”

Marcus looked at Raymond.

“Coach?”

Raymond crossed his arms.

“Don't ask me.”

“You knew?”

“I knew she trained.”

“That's all?”

Raymond smiled.

“You never asked.”

Tyler stared at Maya.

“Who trained you?”

Maya's eyes shifted.

“My father.”

The smile disappeared from her face.

“He was a fighter?”

“No.”

“What then?”

“A mechanic.”

The three men looked confused.

Maya continued.

“He taught me how machines work.”

She pointed at them.

“People aren't machines.”

Ryan smiled.

“Obviously.”

“But movement has patterns.”

The room quieted.

“You repeat something enough times,” Maya said, “and it becomes predictable.”

Marcus nodded slowly.

“That's what you're doing.”

“Yes.”

Tyler looked frustrated.

“So how do we stop you?”

Maya smiled.

“Stop trying to beat me.”

Ryan laughed.

“That's not helpful.”

“It is.”

“How?”

“Because you're still treating this like three separate one-on-one fights.”

Marcus looked at Tyler.

Then Ryan.

He understood.

Maya continued.

“You're three fighters.”

She paused.

“You need to become one team.”

Tyler's jaw tightened.

“We don't need coaching.”

“Then you don't need to win.”

The words landed hard.

Tyler charged.

Marcus followed.

Ryan stayed behind.

This time, their timing was better.

Tyler grabbed Maya's arm.

Marcus moved toward her legs.

Maya jumped.

Ryan stepped in.

She landed behind him.

Ryan spun.

Maya caught his sleeve.

He lost balance.

She released him.

Tyler moved again.

Maya ducked.

Marcus grabbed.

She twisted.

For a moment, Marcus had control.

The gym went silent.

Maya's shoulder was pinned.

Tyler moved toward her.

Ryan moved too.

Maya looked at Marcus.

“You're stronger than me.”

Marcus grinned.

“I know.”

“Good.”

She shifted her hips.

Marcus adjusted.

She shifted again.

He followed.

Then Maya suddenly stopped resisting.

Marcus leaned forward.

That was the mistake.

Maya used his forward momentum.

A small rotation.

A controlled sweep.

Marcus hit the mat.

The room erupted.

Tyler froze.

Ryan stared.

Marcus lay on his back, blinking at the ceiling.

Maya offered him a hand.

He took it.

“That was clean.”

“Thank you.”

Marcus stood.

“I hate that I respect you now.”

Maya laughed.

Tyler shook his head.

“Again.”

Raymond stepped forward.

“No.”

Tyler turned.

“Coach.”

“You're done.”

“We're fine.”

“You're frustrated.”

“So?”

“Frustrated fighters make bad decisions.”

Tyler looked at Maya.

“She wants to continue.”

Maya nodded.

“I do.”

Raymond sighed.

“You're all stubborn.”
