Lena looked up.

"How?"

Derek pointed toward the mat.

"Pick one."

The room became quiet.

Several students stopped what they were doing.

Lena looked at the three men.

Derek.

Marcus.

Jonah.

They were smiling.

They expected her to choose one.

She didn't.

Instead, she slowly put her gloves down.

Then she said:

"Why not all three?"

The room went silent.

Derek's smile disappeared.

Marcus blinked.

Jonah laughed.

"You're serious?"

Lena nodded.

"Yes."

Samuel stepped forward.

"Lena."

She looked at him.

"I know what I'm doing."

Samuel studied her face.

Then he looked at the three men.

"Light contact."

Derek laughed.

"Of course."

"Three minutes."

Marcus nodded.

"No head shots."

Jonah smiled.

"Understood."

Samuel looked at Lena.

"Last chance."

Lena stepped onto the mat.

"No."

The spectators moved closer.

Someone whispered:

"She doesn't know what she's doing."

Another person said:

"She's going to get destroyed."

Lena heard both.

She ignored them.

Derek entered first.

Marcus stood to her left.

Jonah to her right.

The bell rang.

Derek attacked.

Fast.

A jab.

A cross.

A low kick.

Lena moved backward.

The crowd reacted.

Derek smiled.

"Too slow."

He attacked again.

This time, Lena slipped the punch.

Her shoulder barely moved.

Derek's fist passed beside her face.

Lena tapped his chest.

Once.

Then stepped away.

The room became quieter.

Derek looked surprised.

"Again."

He attacked.

Lena moved.

He kicked.

She checked it.

He punched.

She blocked.

She never struck hard.

She simply disappeared from every attack.

Marcus joined.

Two fighters now.

Lena moved between them.

Derek attacked from the front.

Marcus came from behind.

Lena turned.

Blocked.

Pivoted.

And suddenly both men collided.

The audience gasped.

Jonah laughed.

"Okay."

He entered.

Three fighters.

One woman.

The match changed instantly.

Derek attacked from the left.

Marcus from the right.

Jonah moved directly forward.

Lena ducked.

Derek's glove passed over her head.

She stepped inside.

Her palm touched his shoulder.

She turned.

Marcus lost balance.

Jonah attempted a kick.

Lena caught his leg.

Not aggressively.

Just enough.

She released him.

Jonah stumbled backward.

The room exploded with laughter.

His face turned red.

"Again!"

Samuel shouted:

"Stop!"

Everyone froze.

The three men stepped back.

Lena stood in the center.

Not breathing heavily.

Not smiling.

Not celebrating.

Samuel walked onto the mat.

"That's enough."

Derek protested.

"She got lucky."

Samuel looked at him.

"Three times?"

Derek said nothing.

Samuel turned toward Lena.

"Where did you train?"

Lena looked away.

"Not here."

"Obviously."

The room laughed.

For the first time, Lena smiled.

But the atmosphere had changed.

The three best fighters in the dojo were no longer laughing.

They were watching her carefully.

Because they had just discovered something.

Lena wasn't trying to prove she was stronger.

She was trying not to hurt them.

And somehow, that was more frightening.

The Secret in the Old Photograph

The next morning, Lena received a message from Samuel.

Come early.

We need to talk.

She arrived before sunrise.

The dojo was empty.

Samuel was sitting on the edge of the mat.

He held an old photograph.

When Lena entered, he looked up.

"I found this in the office."

He handed it to her.

Lena's expression changed immediately.

The photograph showed a younger woman standing beside a famous martial arts instructor.

The woman was Lena.

Twenty years younger.

Samuel watched her.

"So."

Lena stared at the picture.

"I wondered when someone would recognize me."

"You're Lena Brooks."

"Yes."

"The Lena Brooks?"

She smiled sadly.

"There are several."

"Not like you."

Samuel stood.

"You won the international women's lightweight championship."

Lena said nothing.

"You were nineteen."

"Twenty."

"You disappeared afterward."

"I retired."

"You vanished."

Lena looked at him.

"Sometimes those are the same thing."

Samuel waited.

"Why?"

Lena placed the photograph on the desk.

"Because my coach died."

Samuel knew the name.

Everyone in martial arts did.

Master Kenji Mori.

A legendary instructor.

"He was killed in a car accident after my final tournament," Lena said.

Samuel nodded.
