"Stop talking. Back up now!" Lawson ordered, drawing his pepper spray.
"You're hurting her!" Adrian pleaded, his voice cracking with desperation. "She needs compression. Back away!"
Instead of listening, Lawson lunged. He raised the canister and fired a direct stream of pepper spray straight into Adrian’s face mid-compression.
"Oh, my eyes!" Adrian cried out in agony, instinctively bringing his hands up as his vision burned.
"Get out! Get on the ground!" Cruz yelled, tackling the blinded doctor hard onto the grass. The officers pinned him face-down, wrenching his arms behind his back to snap on the handcuffs.
Through the searing pain, Adrian continued to plead for the dying woman's life. "Check her pulse... please... I'm a doctor..."
Lawson tightened the cuffs, leaning down to hiss in Adrian's ear. "Shut up. It's always your kind committing these crimes."
Officer Cruz laughed sarcastically. "Yeah, right. A doctor. You're going to jail for a long time, buddy."
