"You can't do this! I have jurisdiction here!" Miller protested weakly as the Troopers swiftly stripped him of his duty belt, his sidearm, and his radio, aggressively spinning him around to secure his wrists in heavy steel handcuffs.

Thorne ignored him entirely, turning his attention to the ruined Bentley. He stepped carefully over the piles of glass and looked through the hollowed-out driver's window. His harsh expression softened immediately into one of deep, professional respect.

"Dr. Vance," Captain Thorne said, offering a crisp, formal nod. "Automated dispatch caught the audio of the incident before the SOS beacon even dropped the pin. Are you injured, ma'am?"

Evelyn finally unbuckled her seatbelt. She stepped out of the vehicle, the soles of her designer heels grinding the broken glass into a fine powder against the asphalt. She stood tall, adjusting her charcoal blazer, completely unbothered by the chaos swirling around her.

"A minor scratch from the shrapnel, Captain Thorne, but nothing that requires medical attention," Evelyn replied smoothly, her voice a stark contrast to the wailing sirens and the frantic struggles of Miller being shoved into a police car in the background. "I appreciate your team's rapid response time."

Thorne grimaced as he looked at the blood on her cheek and the utter devastation of the luxury car. "The department will cover all damages, Doctor. And I personally guarantee that this Deputy will be facing a grand jury by the end of the week. Deprivation of rights under color of law, destruction of federal property, and aggravated assault."

Evelyn looked over Thorne’s shoulder. In the back of the State Trooper’s cruiser, illuminated by the flashing red and blue lights, sat Clint Miller. He was slumped against the window, his face buried in his handcuffed hands, the arrogant, swaggering officer completely broken. Evelyn felt no joy in the sight, only the cold satisfaction of an infection being surgically removed from a healthy body.

"Make sure he does, Captain," Evelyn said softly. "The law is a scalpel. In the wrong hands, it only causes trauma."

The chaotic, strobing lights of the police cruisers gradually slowed their frantic rhythm as the adrenaline of the night began to ebb. It was nearly 3:00 AM by the time the crime scene technicians finished photographing the shattered Bentley and documenting the extensive damage. The once-quiet stretch of County Route 9 had been transformed into an undeniable testament to the consequences of unchecked hubris.

Captain Thorne escorted Evelyn to the back of a pristine, unmarked black Chevrolet Tahoe. The heated leather interior offered a stark, comforting contrast to the freezing, glass-strewn cabin she had just endured.

"My officers will ensure your vehicle is securely towed to the federal impound lot in Atlanta for a full forensic assessment, Dr. Vance," Thorne said, holding the door open for her. "We will have a driver take you directly to your estate. I'll need a formal statement by Monday, but tonight, you need to rest."
