"Liars always have a quick excuse!" Brenda shrilled, her voice echoing down the quiet street. "People like this are exactly how neighborhoods get destroyed! I’m calling the police!"

True to her word, she aggressively tapped the screen of her phone, keeping the camera trained on him while holding it to her ear. Mark simply leaned back in his rocking chair, taking another sip of his coffee. He wasn't going anywhere.

Ten minutes later, the flashing red and blue lights of a patrol car washed over Mark's blue-painted house. A seasoned police officer stepped out of the vehicle, adjusting his utility belt as he assessed the scene.

Brenda immediately pounced, running up to the officer and pointing a trembling, dramatic finger at Mark.

"Officer! Thank God you're here!" she cried out. "Get him off that porch! He sits there watching families all day like he's casing the street. He doesn't belong here!"
